WASTE HEAT IS WORTH THE COST
Many production and transformation processes involve the production of thermal energy that is not used in full. This is called “waste heat”.
It can be used internally to meet the needs of certain companies but it can also be sold to be recovered externally using the heat network. A chance to improve its balance sheet could be really beneficial for a company.

Euraénergie is one of the organisations supporting the Dunkirk territory’s industrial transformation towards decarbonisation.
One of its aims is to build an energy transition ecosystem on the Dunkirk industrial-port platform which benefits from the many recoverable co-products, particularly the 5,400 GWh of waste heat.
It is supported by local public stakeholders including the Greater Dunkirk Urban Council, the AGUR (Flanders-Dunkirk area urban planning and development agency), Pôlénergie, Ecopal and our agency Dunkerque Promotion. And also the Littoral Hauts-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Grand Port Maritime of Dunkirk, the University Littoral Côte d’Opale (ULCO) and the IMT Lille Douai Engineering School.

Eco-Tech Ceram, a thermal engineering company, can support industrialists with their waste heat recovery, thereby reducing their carbon footprint.
This start-up set up a high temperature thermal storage demonstrator on the ArcelorMittal Dunkerque site. It allows it to capture, store and recover the heat lost as decarbonised energy. Named Eco-Stock, the demonstrator should enable the steelmaker to stop consuming fossil fuels to dry its sludge and avoid the additional cost of transporting the wet sludge. It is an opportunity to make some savings and reduce carbon emissions.
Terrao uses technology to eliminate pollution. It provides three types of solution:
